Make mini great again.

We are looking for a young, energetic, positive, driven and responsible person to join ensemble mini as manager for the next stage of its exciting development. The role essentially involves overall management of the ensemble - for both its administration and creative output - alongside the Artistic Director.

This position allows you to work in an independent, entrepreneurial and creative way, leading a forward-thinking team to build-up and develop one of Germany's leading ensembles into one of the world's leading ensembles.

Responsibilities include:

- planning, project applications, proposals and fundraising.
- acquiring project partners.
- selling to concert venues and promoters.
- conceptualisation (realising the project's concerts).
- overseeing administration, production and finances in cooperation with our partners.

Requirements include:

- ambition and optimism.
- an entrepreneurial spirit.
- highly advanced communication skills.
- passion and knowledge for developing new project ideas in classical music.
- experience in classical music management, preferably orchestral and/or artist management.
- experience dealing with concert venues and logistics of orchestral touring.
- knowledge of funding in Germany.
- knowledge of classical music orchestral repertoire.
- familiarity with social media, finance, Dropbox, Excel and Word.

It is preferable that the successful candidate is intelligent, sociable, resilient and reliable, who can use one's initiative whilst reacting quickly to changing situations and also embodies a positive, friendly and professional manner. These qualities can trump experience.

Candidates should be able to speak and write in both English and German fluently.

Please note that ensemble mini is an independent ensemble without access to regular public funding. As a project-based ensemble, renumeration can only be guaranteed according to the number of projects obtained. This means we can only work with you on a) commission-basis or b) minimal salary topped-up by commission. However, the enormous amount of potential easily suggests a generous renumeration. Pay can therefore be competitive and negotiable according to experience.

Please do not apply for this position if:
- you are not willing to work on a freelance basis and take responsibility for the ensemble's income and therefore your own income.
- you are not serious in developing your own career as an orchestra manager for the long-term.

Taking on this role is a big responsibility but a very exciting one. The winner of the position must be available for all project weeks and make ensemble mini a primary focus.

If you think this is something for you, please apply with a covering letter (explaining what appeals to you about the role and what you think you can offer) in English and a CV (max. 2 pages) in English and German before 18:00h on 24.04.17 to:

Founded in 2010 by Joolz Gale and scholars from the Berliner Philharmoniker, 'ensemble mini' is a project-based mini-orchestra of musicians from Germany's best orchestras with a mission to re-discover great symphonic composers. It has received much critical acclaim, most notably for "mini-Mahler" at Philharmonie Berlin and "Strauss 150: New Perspectives" at STATTBAD Berlin. It has also featured widely on media platforms such as 3sat Kulturzeit, ZDF Aspekte, Deutschlandradio Kultur, RBB Kulturradio, WDR and DLF. The ensemble is particularly noted not just for its high-level of music-making but also its mission to access new audiences in alternative venues.

In late 2014, it released its debut CD of the world premiere arrangement of Mahler's 9th Symphony in the specially-commissioned arrangement by Klaus Simon. Its follow-up CD of Mahler's 10th will be release in Autumn 2016. In its most recent projects, 'ensemble mini' gave the first Late Night concert at Konzerthaus Berlin with Debussy's La Mer, which was later recorded for RBB Kulturradio's Musiksalon and first live television recording with Bartok Beyond Borders.

The next projects for 'ensemble mini' include concerts in Essen and Berlin for Das Lied von der Erde and then Moscow and Berlin with "From Russia with Soul".
